Not so long ago a tape dropped through my letterbox from Hades, the New Jersey metal band, containing two newly recorded numbers. The note with the cassette stated thus: \u201cIf this tape doesn\u2019t make you think Hades are a band to be reckoned with, I guess you don\u2019t love metal!\u201d Well, I may be partial to the odd non-heavy metal band as some people think, such as Angel or Spys, but to think I don\u2019t love metal?<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s look at it this way. Hades came in for a lot of bad mouthing by other British magazines, so I guess you have to have sympathy for them for maybe thinking all British publications are against them. But this one is not.<\/p>\n

Hades will be a band to be reckoned with when that mini-album comes out, \u2019cos the two tracks here are excellent slices of US hard \u2019n\u2019 heavy rock; even sounding remotely like early Iron Maiden… so there is life after a bad review after all!<\/p>\n

The two tracks are \u2018Gloomy Sunday\u2019 and \u2018Rogues March.\u2019 New York State metal freaks may have already heard them on WMSC, so they definitely know where Hades are at. Wait for that record, the rest of the world. It\u2019s gonna be a facemelter of melodic metal!<\/p>\n
