Helsinki, Finland-based death metal group Barren Earth recruited Faroese native J\u00f3n Aldar\u00e1 as its lead vocalist, revealing the development on January 7th, 2014.<\/p>\n

J\u00f3n Aldar\u00e1 issued the following statement: \u201cAs a fan of Barren Earth from the very beginning, I had no doubts about showing my interest in the singer position. And now that things have started rolling and I\u2019ve had some time to look at the new material, I\u2019m extremely excited to be part of the band\u2019s future. Now let\u2019s rock!\u201d<\/p>\n

Barren Earth guitarist Janne Perttil\u00e4, meanwhile, shared the following words: \u201cJ\u00f3n is a friend with a strong voice that simply is no less than a perfect fit for our material \u2013 old and new. I was grinning like crazy as we ran through a handful of new songs at our first rehearsal with him after sending demos back and forth over e-mail the past couple of months, everything was just sounding so good. There\u2019s just no way to put this without sounding clich\u00e9d as hell, but his contribution to the new material has indeed already taken the sound of the band to a new level. Can\u2019t wait to hit the stage and the studio!\u201d<\/p>\n
