T\u00ddR Release Seventh Full-Length Album \u2018Valkyrja\u2019<\/strong><\/span>

\nFaroe Islands-based power metal group T\u00fdr issued seventh full-length album Valkyrja<\/em> on September 13th, 2013 in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland through Metal Blade Records. The label scheduled release in the rest of Europe for September 16th, and subsequently North American release for September 17th.<\/p>\n

The outing was cut in Hansen Studios in Ribe, Denmark with Jacob Hansen, who handled production, mixing and mastering duties. The composition \u2018The Lay Of Our Love\u2019 features guest vocals from Leaves\u2019 Eyes frontwoman Liv Kristine. Concluding the affair are cover versions of \u2018Where Eagles Dare\u2019 and \u2018Cemetery Gates\u2019, written by Iron Maiden and Pantera respectively. \u2018Where Eagles Dare\u2019\u2019s original rendition was featured May 1983 album Piece Of Mind<\/em>, while \u2018Cemetery Gates\u2019\u2019 original rendition was included on July 1990\u2019s Cowboys From Hell<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Nile sticksman George Kollias stepped behind the drumkit for Valkyrja<\/em>. Drummer K\u00e1ri Streymoy had parted ways with T\u00fdr following the conclusion of the 2013 North American Paganfest.<\/p>\n

Valkyrja<\/em> is a concept album with a storyline based loosely around an anonymous Viking age warrior who leaves his woman and goes off to impress the Valkyrie on the battlefield so that she may bring him to Valhalla, or to F\u00f3lkvangr, the home of Freyja \u2013 the goddess associated with love, sexuality, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war, and death. <\/p>\n
