SOULFLY Release Ninth Full-Length Album \u2018Savages\u2019<\/strong><\/span>

\nPhoenix, Arizona-based metal group Soulfly issued ninth full-length album Savages<\/em><\/a> in the United Kingdom on September 30th, 2013 through Nuclear Blast Entertainment. The label also scheduled release in the rest of Europe as well as the United States on October 4th.<\/p>\n

The outing was produced by Terry Date, who had previously mixed the Soulfly albums 3<\/em> (2002), Prophecy<\/em> (2004) and Dark Ages<\/em> (2005). Guest vocal appearances on Savages<\/em> were supplied by Soulfly bassist Tony Campos (ex-Static-X), Clutch\u2019s Neil Fallon, Napalm Death guitarist Mitch Harris, I Declare War\u2019s Jamie Hanks, and Lody Kong\u2019s Igor Cavalera \u2013 the son of Soulfly frontman Max Cavalera. Savages\u2019 drum tracks were laid down by Zyon Cavalera, another of Max Cavalera\u2019s sons.<\/p>\n

Cover artwork duties were overseen by Paul Stottler.<\/p>\n

The album was made available as a limited digipak edition CD, a 2LP vinyl and a digital download. Digipak and 2LP vinyl editions include the bonus tracks \u2018Fuck Reality\u2019 and \u2018Soulfly IX\u2019.<\/p>\n

An official lyric video was released for the song \u2018Bloodshed\u2019. According to Max Cavalera, the composition is \u201cabout the absurdity of the human condition in territories plagued by bloodshed all over the world.\u201d Written in Portuguese and Spanish, \u2018El Comegente\u2019 concerns Venezuelan serial killer Dorangel Vargas, dubbed the \u201cHannibal Lecter Of The Andes\u201d.<\/p>\n

Savages<\/em> marks the first Soulfly platter not to be released through Roadrunner Records, the ensemble\u2019s first eight albums having been issued via the label.
