Faster hails from Colombia, they bring nothing new to the table but they do shed rust and blood all over it. Sounding as if it was recorded in a garage, Speed For Satan is just that, a raw no fucks given shot of poison into the veins.

Beginning with the sound of a motorcycle revving off, the opening title track hits like some subterranean whirling dervish scurrying to the sound of its own hyper riff. Impact is immediate but not necessarily lasting because there’s only so much of this Luciferian cheese a person can handle.

Having said that, Faster still manage to bring plenty of leathery charm to the party. The slick New Wave Of British Heavy Metal riff of ‘Dressed In Leather’ is uniform but cool as early Judas Priest springs to mind, while ‘Rock The Witch’ boasts a nice tone reminiscent of Celtic Frost as vocalist Josué Quintero snarls, albeit it tepidly, over the clattering steel.

It’s quite fitting, and with some relief, that the album runs for a mere 32 minutes, but in that time you can swig a few beers, draw a crass image of Satan on your arm and still be home in time for dinner. ‘Ripping Fast’ is your standard raging force dragged from the Venom handbook of scrap metal. ‘Beyond The Iron Gate’ is as equally goofy but less spikes in its delivery.

All of what’s on offer is basically a cocktail of Teutonic clamour and South American bestiality, but several decades too late. There’s nothing here to fear, but the coals are still hot enough should you wish to have a heavy metal barbeque.

Neil Arnold

FASTER Speed For Satan Self-released (2025) Rating: 6/10 After choking on the fumes of the latest Hellcrash album (Inferno Crematörio) I decided to dive into the frying pan of another hellish speed metal outing.
