Well, who would have thought that a golf obsessed death metal band would exist, and be so forward in their sporting fascination! \u2018Open The Gates\u2019, \u2018Tee Time To Die\u2019, \u2018Southern Hills\u2019, \u2018Roaming The North Course\u2019 and \u2018Murder On The Back Nine\u2019 aren\u2019t quite as silly as they sound as this Canadian act will have you believe.<\/p>\n

Sure, it\u2019s entertaining in its subject, although the novelty will wear off quickly, but this is still solid enough death metal with thrashy elements. At times, Six Feet Under and early Cannibal Corpse comes to mind. \u2018Open The Gates\u2019 chugs along nicely, while \u2018Tee Time To Die\u2019 opts for grisly haste with its flurry of drums and raw riffs. Meanwhile, \u2018Southern Hills\u2019 offers a bit of both so you get the accessibility and the brutality.<\/p>\n

To an extent, this is the sort of death metal you might have experienced during the latter part of the 90s and yet with an 80s kind of hardcore humour and an album cover more suited to Macabre. The EP sure is easy on the ear with its catchy riffs and throaty gurgles.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s an element of mystery about the foursome in that I\u2019ve never seen the faces of Rognvald Blance, Colin Fossitt, Matt Kopp and Jesse Peria and I don\u2019t know what instruments each individual plays, but beyond the gimmick you listen to a track like \u2018Roaming The North Course\u2019 and you can hear the talent. My advice guys, is ditch the golf silliness and let\u2019s get serious.<\/p>\n
