Unholier than Satan’s testicles, Exult is another gruesome Chilean act treading the death doom boards. Primeval Darkness<\/em> is a wholesome EP in that it serves up everything you\u2019d want from a composite of this ilk; bulbous sludge riffs, dank thumping percussion and grisly vocals.<\/p>\n

Opening song \u2018Damnation \/ From The Underworld\u2019 begins with a slog of a riff that sounds like Black Sabbath<\/a>\u2019s Tony Iommi playing Celtic Frost. \u2018Death Triumph\u2019 is probably the heaviest example of death doom you\u2019ll hear this year, traipsing into suffocating darkness to the commands of those utterly filthy vocalisations of horror from a guy named Usurper. You get bogged down by each quicksand riff yet mesmerised by the Celtic Frost tone that weaves its dismal magic.<\/p>\n

\u2018Nocturnal Rites\u2019 remains thick but certainly a lot faster in its abysmal galloping. There\u2019s no denying its grim accessibility as the trio give present Darkthrone a run for their money with those creaky, vintage grooves. Before the brief outro \u2018Embracing Obscurity\u2019, \u2018Realm Of Darkness\u2019 rumbles ominously as sprigs of haste infect the smothering damp trudges.<\/p>\n

This is hideously designed and hypnotically dense, so if premature burial in thick mud is your kink then this might float (or sink) your boat
