These guys have been snapping necks since 2016 and two years ago unleashed their debut full-length album Intruder Of Reality.

With Tales From The Dreamworld the combo continues its maelstrom crossover styled mayhem that sizzles with a punk attitude. “For fans of Metallica, Excel, D.R.I., Doomwatch, Faith Or Fear, Dirge, Brutal Obscenity, Judge, Crumbsuckers, I.N.C., No Mercy and S.N.F.,” states the press release for this eight track package, and I couldn’t agree more. Damn, the guys even throw in two superb covers of Faith Or Fear’s ‘Rampage / Nothing Uncommon’ and the Doomwatch track ‘Monstrosity’.

This is such a snappy gem of an EP that does indeed boast an early Metallica sort of rawness while drifting towards a maniacal hardcore assault as evidenced on sprightly opener ‘Distressing Insomnia Nights’. The band is no stranger to Bay Area thrash dynamics, ‘Try Not Fall’ features a catchy riff and gang chants, but what separates this EP from the current glut is the genuine old school feel and the sneering vocals, both of which nods towards a Teutonic fury too. The title track however mixes punk, thrash and hardcore while also implementing a rather cute little melody as well. As stated previously both cover versions are very good, but of the two it’s the Faith Or Fear cut that stands out, particularly with its metallic riffage and melodious leads.

Tales From The Dreamworld is a good, all round record of vim and vigour that boasts a streetwise attitude and spits in the face of adversity.

Neil Arnold

INSECURITYTales From The Dreamworld EP Nube Negra Prods (2024)Rating: 7/10 If you need a dose of crunchy, crisp maddening old school thrash metal then why not snap up the new EP from Santiago, Chile-based Insecurity.
