With their second full-length studio album, Seattle, Washington-based rockers Greyhawk continue their quest to spew forth tales of magic and mystery to a soundtrack steeped in the musty odour of traditional metal.<\/p>\n

This is nothing new, although nothing these days ever is, but Thunderheart<\/em> is an enjoyable romp within a framework of tight musicianship and commanding vocals courtesy of Rev Taylor who at any moment could fluidly ooze into something operatic if he so wished. The production on Thunderheart<\/em> is excellent allowing the guitars to glint, the bass to sublimely rattle and the drums to pound.<\/p>\n

A majority of the songs here have a bombastic vibe, particularly the title track; a classy slice of epic metal that booms across the horizon as the band constructs a steady rhythm of steel. \u2018Steadfast\u2019 is another epic track, trudging with purpose like an undefeated army swarming the pastures, while \u2018Sacrifice Of Steel\u2019 features some flashy axework before the combo gallops to a chorus of bellows. If you don\u2019t own a horse then buy one just so you can accompany Greyhawk as they stride proudly from misty fens to bloodstained battlefields.<\/p>\n

\u2018The Last Mile\u2019 is glorious in its slow tempo pounding as Taylor instructs his army like a doom-laden god ready for a final combat but knowing full well they will exit this earth in style. And then suddenly \u2018Back In The Fight\u2019 scurries with skittish vigour, bringing an energy out of the smouldering landscape as those presumed dead are now summoned back to life, transforming into rabid warriors led by the hasty soundtracks of busy riffage.<\/p>\n

Whether you\u2019re a fan of Manowar, Manilla Road or the European power metal scene, Greyhawk\u2019s latest album will offer something to anyone who still likes to role-play their favourite Game Of Thrones<\/em> episodes.<\/p>\n
