What is evident from the start is that Quantum Void plays a harsh style of thrash with sneering vocals, scathing riffs and streaks of nasty, raw speed speckled with thorny progressive touches.

There is a real angular freshness to this opus, even the cover of Kreator’s ‘Extreme Aggression’ is noteworthy. This album is progressive, Vektor-ish, and dripping with some astonishing tempos. The bass tone is a joy to behold too as the combo is at comfort with melodious streaks as well as the more scathing sneers.

‘Out Of The Void’ is a wondrously strange yet compelling brew of crisp thrash, tight corners and rhythmic pulses, while my favourite track ‘Lord Of Terror’ is both catchy yet abrasive in its stance and made all the more impeccable by the ripping lead work. ‘Undead Thoughts’ is sniping yet instant, and that’s why the album succeeds as it continues to effortlessly marry cosmic technicality with fluidity as observed on ‘Old Enemy’.

Quantum Void really come into their own though with the more venomous outbursts such as with ‘Schizophrenic’ and ‘Insidious Bane’, but the constant ebbs and flows result in such a rich and cutting thrash metal vigour that repeated listens may result in shredded ears.

Neil Arnold

QUANTUM VOIDEscaping Reality Self-released (2023)Rating: 8/10 Formed in 2020, Quantum Void is a Polish act from Warsaw and Escaping Reality is their debut full-length album.
