WORMHOLE Make New Track \u2018Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact\u2019 Available For Streaming<\/strong><\/span>

American death metal band Wormhole have made the track \u2018Spine Shatter High-Velocity Impact\u2019 available for streaming via YouTube, which can be accessed below.<\/p>\n

Regarding the song, the band stated: \u201cThis song has our hero struggling as they make their last stand. They\u2019re desperately trying to rally, but despite their rage they just keep falling apart. Is the impossible really going to happen? Is our hero, the one we love and cherish so much, really going to lose?\u201d<\/p>\n

Wormhole issue third full-length studio album Almost Human<\/em> on September 22nd, 2023 through Season Of Mist.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tech slam imagery is based on metroid lore, doom lore, and we haven\u2019t written a song about it yet, but Alien as well,\u201d commented guitarist Sanjay \u201cNoni\u201d Kumar in referencing to the vibe Wormhole chase. \u201cThose three things are brutal sci-fi universes, so we\u2019re trying to embody that sound. The slam riffs, you can connect the brutal killing of stuff with the brutal chunky riffs; that\u2019s been a match that\u2019s existed since the nineties. So that\u2019s the slam part, and then the tech part was harder to fit that vibe, so we kind of do it differently. I lean into very dissonance-vibe stuff, like Artificial Brain and Dysrhythmia. I think disso-death and heavy, they aren’t usually paired together, even though they should be.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then as far as chasing the vibe,\u201d Noni adds, \u201cI kind of go about it two ways. With the Metroid soundtrack or universe, that vibe, there\u2019s some dark and gloomy atmosphere, but there\u2019s a lot of pretty imagery as well. We wanted to find a way to match that very pretty, kind of out-there sound cohesively in songs with a very aggressive and guttural approach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guitars and vocals for Almost Human<\/em> were recorded at Wormhole HQ, while drums were recorded at AJ Viana Productions. Production and engineering was handled by Wormhole and AJ Viana, while bass parts were produced and engineered by Alex Weber.<\/p>\n

Mixing was undertaken by AJ Viana at AJ Viana Productions, with mastering being helmed by Alan Douches.<\/p>\n

Cover artwork was designed by Adam Burke at Nightjar Illustration.<\/p>\n
