CANNIBAL CORPSE Release 16th Studio Album \u2018Chaos Horrific\u2019<\/strong><\/span>

Tampa, Florida-based death metal band Cannibal Corpse issued 16th full-length studio album Chaos Horrific<\/em><\/a> on September 22nd, 2023 through Metal Blade Records.<\/p>\n

Chaos Horrific<\/em> was written shortly after the conclusion of sessions for predecessor Violence Unimagined<\/em>. \u201cTo me, this album feels sort of like a continuation of Violence Unimagined<\/em>,\u201d says bassist Alex Webster.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that our songwriting has progressed in a manner where every song paves its own path, whether it\u2019s a straightforward or technical song,\u201d commented guitarist Rob Barrett. \u201cSometimes it\u2019s a mix of both, so there\u2019s no preconceived idea that we want to be more technical. The music just sort of takes its own course.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think there was any conscious effort to make things more technical, so if it wound up that way it would just be a natural result of us trying to write the heaviest songs we could,\u201d Webster added.<\/p>\n

Cannibal Corpse had no master plan, approaching each track with an open mind. \u201cI never go into a record thinking about anything, I just let the writing flow freely with no limitations,\u201d said guitarist and producer Erik Rutan. \u201cBut this time, I knew I wanted to push the envelope a bit in a different direction than Violence Unimagined<\/em>; expand the dynamics, explore new territory without departing from what Cannibal Corpse is and always shall be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chaos Horrific<\/em> marks the sixth Cannibal Corpse album to be produced by Rutan, starting with 2006\u2019s Kill, and Rutan\u2019s second as a fully-fledged member of the band since officially joining in 2020.<\/p>\n

Tracking took place at Rutan\u2019s Mana Studio in Florida, with Rutan and fellow guitarist Rob Barrett having \u201ccustom guitars built with longer scale necks to hold the proper intonation necessary for lower tunings,\u201d said Barrett.<\/p>\n

Drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz named the record, Subjects covered include fighting off hordes of zombies (\u2018Chaos Horrific\u2019), the selection of a random individual to be dismembered and sacrificed (\u2018Summoned For Sacrifice\u2019), and the violent revenge of victims of human trafficking (\u2018Vengeful Invasion\u2019). <\/p>\n

Cover artwork was designed by longtime collaborator Vince Locke, featuring a chaotic tangle of the living and the undead.<\/p>\n
