From the opening title track this is a record that scowls and snarls from its very core. Due to the rather manic nature of this beast it is fair to say that Serpent’s Call is not a memorable outing and comes across as somewhat of a blur. However, the band still finds space to insert some slower menace such as with the excellent ‘Malicious Stirring’. But for the most part the maniacal combo is so eager to blast you with its musical frenzy, and within such chaos you’ll hear a few traditional metal details and some interesting high pitched squeals too from lead man Marquis F. Morbidus.

When you get slammed and spun by the likes of ‘Awaiting The Gallows’, ‘Pyromaniac’ and ‘Burn’ you quickly realise that Violent Sin are not here to mollycoddle you but simply slice n’ dice and leave your sorry arse in a pile of neatly spliced chunks.

Neil Arnold

VIOLENT SINSerpent’s Call Dying Victims Productions (2023)Rating: 7/10 Here is a record that doesn’t hesitate to introduce itself.
