SAXON Unveil Music Video For ‘Thunderbolt’ Title Track
November 30th, 2017

Yorkshire, England-based heavy metal group Saxon have released a music video for the title track of their forthcoming album Thunderbolt, which can be viewed below.

Saxon issue 22nd full-length studio album Thunderbolt on February 2nd, 2017 through Militia Guard, an imprint of Silver Lining Music.

Thunderbolt will be available to pre-order on December 1st in the following formats: digipak CD, 180gm coloured vinyl in gatefold sleeve, special edition boxset, cassette tape and digital download.

The outing was produced by Andy Sneap, once again.

Thunderbolt features a tribute composition to late Motörhead frontman Lemmy, entitled ‘They Played Rock And Roll’. “There’s not much to tell, really,” frontman Biff Byford told Metal Forces in an October 2016 interview feature. “It’s a song about that tour, the 1979 tour basically. I asked Nibbs (Carter, bass) to write a song that was similar in style to Motörhead, which he did. He wrote the guitar riffs and everything, and I put lyrics to it that I had already written. So, it was a pretty easy song for us to do.”

Cover artwork was created by long-time Saxon collaborator Paul Raymond Gregory.

The track listing is as follows;

01. ‘Olympus Rising’
02. ‘Thunderbolt’
03. ‘The Secret Of Flight’
04. ‘Nosferatu (The Vampires Waltz)’
05. ‘They Played Rock And Roll’
06. ‘Predator’
07. ‘Sons Of Odin’
08. ‘Sniper’
09. ‘A Wizard’s Tale’
10. ‘Speed Merchants’
11. ‘Roadie’s Song’
12. ‘Nosferatu (Raw Version)’ *

* not available on vinyl versions

Saxon’s line-up is as follows;

Biff Byford (lead vocals)
Paul Quinn (guitars)
Doug Scarratt (guitars)
Nibbs Carter (bass)
Nigel Glockler (drums)

Twenty-first studio record Battering Ram was released in October 2015 via UDR Music.
