METALLICA’s Kirk Hammett Performs With EXODUS And DEATH ANGEL At 2014 Fear FestEvil
February 2014

Kirk Hammett – guitarist with San Francisco, California-based heavy metal group Metallica – hosted his first annual horror convention, entitled Kirk Von Hammett’s Fear FestEviL, on February 6-8th, 2014 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, California. A three-day event, Fear FestEvil included musical performances by Exodus, Carcass, Death Angel and Orchid. In addition to hosting the convention, Hammett joined Exodus and Death Angel for their encore performances.

Exodus guitarist Gary Holt issued the following statement in announcing the event: “Exodus is stoked as fuck to announce that none other than Kirk Von Hammett himself will be jamming with us during our encore at Fear FestEviL! What song? Hmm, that remains to be seen! I guess you will have to be there to find out.”

An inaugural Exodus member from 1980 until 1983, Hammett not only devised the group’s name, but was the first Exodus member to initially meet original vocalist Paul Baloff, subsequently introducing him to the group’s ranks. In 1983, the axeman would subsequently replace Dave Mustaine (Megadeth) as a member of Metallica. Hammett, meanwhile, produced 1986 Death Angel demo Kill As One.

Too Much Horror Business – The Kirk Hammett Collection was released in 2012. An oversized 228-page hardback, it documents the man’s love of the horror genre and features more than 300 photographs of items from Hammett’s horror memorabilia collection. And as well, the tome includes three interviews with the guitarist.
