Los Angeles, California-based thrash metal group Megadeth recruited guitarist Kiko Loureiro (of Brazilian / Italian metal group Angra), confirming this development on April 2nd, 2015.

Vocalist / guitarist Dave Mustaine issued the following statement: “I first met Kiko around eight years ago for a cover shoot for Burrn! magazine. I had no idea who he was, other than the fact he was tremendously talented and that the staff from Burrn! held him in high regard. Since then, I’ve come to see what a guitar virtuoso he is, and I’m deeply encouraged by his depth and talent.

“Very few Megadeth alumni have had the same feel and ability as Kiko.

“As Frank Sinatra says, ‘the best is yet to come!’”

On March 31st, it was revealed that Megadeth have almost completed songwriting for their 15th full-length studio album, with tracking scheduled to begin next week. Chris Adler – of Richmond, Virginia-based metal ensemble Lamb Of God – will step behind the drumkit for recording sessions.

14th studio record Super Collider was released in June 2013.
