LOCK UP Premiere ‘Hell Will Plague The Ruins’ Music Video
November 5th, 2021

International deathgrind band Lock Up have released a music video for the track ‘Hell Will Plague The Ruins’. Created by Chariot of Black Moth, the clip can be viewed below.

Speaking about the song, vocalist Tomas Lindberg said: “When I heard the track, I just wanted the lyrics to reflect upon the same kind of feeling. It is a ripper of a song, total face melt death metal grind. And I just wanted a very all out attack lyrically as well. It is basically a doomsday song, very punky in attitude, almost like a Discharge lyric, but then steeped in a more death metal vocabulary to make it even more brutal and hellish. It is about the end of the world, and the journey there.”

Lock Up issue fifth full-length studio album The Dregs Of Hades on November 26th, 2021 through Listenable Records.

The Dregs Of Hades marks the first Lock Up album to feature drummer Adam Jarvis (Misery Index / Pig Destroyer), who replaced founding member Nick Barker in May 2020. The outing also sees the return of former vocalist Tomas “Tompa” Lindberg (At The Gates / The Lurking Fear).

With the band members being spread across the globe, Lock Up’s new album was recorded remotely due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Explaining the recording process, singer Kevin Sharp said: “Basically Anton [Reisenegger, guitar] loaded a dropbox of very rough arrangements. Adam would go in with his drum program write his parts and solidify the arrangements, then passing them to me and Tompa.

“As for Shane’s [Embury, bass] songs. He is specific and wrote all parts. Once Adam learned his parts and Shane’s songs, he went in and nailed it in a handful of takes… He’s that good.

“With the vocals, I wrote and tracked some things and sent them to Tompa. He did the same, until we had a complete record. Both of us tracked and re-tracked the songs in our own phrasing, adding an interesting contrast in style and tone.

“I really don’t think it would have been possible without the shear volume of recording experience we have collectively. That said, I believe we would also agree the nature of the way the recording happened, in our darkest of times, makes this somewhat special for all of us.”

The Dregs Of Hades was mixed and mastered by Sebastián Puente at AudioCustom in Santiago, Chile.

Cover artwork was designed by Stefan Todorović.
