BEHEMOTH Release Tenth Studio Album ‘The Satanist’
February 3rd, 2014

Polish blackened death metal group Behemoth issued tenth full-length studio album The Satanist on February 3rd, 2014 in the United Kingdom through Nuclear Blast Records and in Poland via Mystic Production, while Metal Blade Records scheduled North American release for the 4th. Japanese issue occurred on the 5th via Victor Entertainment, with release taking place in the rest of the world on the 7th.

The album was made available as a deluxe box, which included a CD / DVD digibook in silver mirror slipcase with a 44-page booklet (with gold foil, UV gloss lamination), supersize poster flag (approx. 3.5’ x 5’), a wooden black inverted rosary cross, a metal pin, and a black envelope with black communion wafers. Entitled Live Barbarossa, the DVD featured a live performance professionally filmed in Ekaterinburg, Russia as well as a 30-minute documentary chronicling the creative process behind The Satanist.

Production duties were handled by Behemoth, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand at Hertz Studio. Mixing duties were overseen by Matt Hyde, with Ted Jensen handling mastering responsibilities at Sterling Sound in New York City.

The Satanist’s cover artwork was designed by Russian painter and occultist Denis Forkas, the painting including some of vocalist Nergal’s own blood. Additional art and design was Metastazis and Zbigniew Bielak.

In its first week of release, The Satanist sold roughly 10,000 copies in the United States, landing at position 34 on The Billboard 200.

Music videos were filmed for the title track and the songs ‘Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel’, ‘Ora Pro Nobis Lucifer’, ‘Messe Noire’, ‘Ben Sahar’ and ‘O Father O Satan O Sun!’, which can all be viewed below.

Ninth studio record Evangelion was released in August 2009.
