AMON AMARTH Release Ninth Studio Album ‘Deceiver Of The Gods’
June 24th, 2013

Stockholm, Sweden-based melodic death metal group Amon Amarth issued ninth studio full-length album Deceiver Of The Gods on June 24th, 2013 in Europe through Metal Blade Records. The label also scheduled North American issue for the 25th, and Japanese issue for the 26th.

The outing was cut at Backstage Studios in Derbyshire, United Kingdom, with Andy Sneap handling production, mixing, and mastering duties. Eighth track ‘Hel’ features guest vocals from Messiah Marcolin (ex-Candlemass). Deceiver Of The God’s cover artwork was designed by Tom Thiel.

Directed by Ramon Boutviseth, a music video was filmed for the track ‘Father Of The Wolf’. And as well, an official lyric video was released for the song ‘As Loke Falls’.

In its first week of release, Deceiver Of The Gods sold roughly 17,000 copies in the United States, landing at position 19 on The Billboard 200. In Germany meanwhile, the effort entered the Top 100 chart at position three, the official Media Market / Saturn chart at position three, and the German Media Control Weekend Trend chart at position two.

Deceiver Of The Gods charted at position nine on Canada’s Top 200 chart, at number two on the Hard Music chart, and number 21 on the Digital Music chart, And as well, the record entered at position two on the iTunes Metal chart, position two on the iTunes Rock chart and position seven on the iTunes Top 200. In the United Kingdom, the outing entered the official album chart at position 67, the Rock / Metal chart at position four and the Independent chart at position 14, marking the highest UK chart placements up until that time.

Elsewhere in the world, Deceiver Of The Gods, entered at position nine on the Top 100 album chart in Switzerland, position seven on the Austrian Top 100, position nine in Sweden, position 27 in Denmark, position 51 in France, position 34 in Czech Republic and position 51 in Hungary.

Eighth studio record Surtur Rising was released in March 2011.
